Philadelphia Phillies Minor Leaguers Jarred Cosart and Sebastian Valle To Play in 2011 Futures Game

The future of the Philadelphia Phillies continues to shine bright as two Clearwater Threshers will play in a minor league All-Star game. Catcher Sebastian Valle and pitcher Jarred Cosart will represent the club in the 2011 MLB futures game. The game will take place on Sunday July 10 in Phoenix, Arizona.

 Cosart will play for the US and has been selected to his second futures game, although he did not play in last years contest. He has a 6-4 record, 3.16 ERA, on 74 innings pitched in 13 appearances this season. He has began to warm up of late going 5-2 in his last 10 starts. The 6'3 180 pound right-hander has been regarded as one of the Phillies best pitching prospects.  

His teammate, Valle will suit up for the World team. The Mexico native has risen through the minor league ranks ever since he was signed as a 16-year old amateur free-agent in 2006. Through 41 games this season he is hitting .343 with 57 hits, 22 RBI's, 21 runs, and three home runs. The 6'1 170 pound Valle will be playing in his first futures game.

The futures game was played for the first year in 1999. The MLB futures will face off against the world team. The 25 man roster was selected by baseball experts all over the country. Each team has at least one representative playing for the USA or world team.

The game will be televised on MLB.TV, ESPN2, and ESPNHD at 6 p.m. ET.
