The hit came about halfway through the third period when Panthers defenseman Erik Gudbranson put Hartnell into the boards. Hartnell went down awkwardly and some video angles made it seem as if Hartnell hit his head on the edge of the boards. However, after close inspection of the video, Hartnell didn't hit his head as his arm was in the way. Hartnell was still down and motionless before getting up under his own power after a few minutes.
The good news for Hartnell is that he wasn't seriously hurt, but he did say that he is feeling the effect of the hit on his body. Hartnell was back on the ice a few minutes later during the 5-minute power play the Flyers received when Gudbranson was given a 5-minute major penalty for boarding. The Flyers failed to convert on the power play though.
Hartnell has a had two days to recover from the hit so hopefully he is 100 percent for tomorrow night's game against the Phoenix Coyotes. Check back later for a preview of tomorrow night's game.
