The Philadelphia Eagles only had two players, running back LeSean McCoy and left tackle Jason Peters, selecting to play in this years Pro Bowl. Quarterback Nick Foles was voted as the first alternate and due to the remaining Pro Bowl quarterbacks in the playoffs, Foles is on his away to Hawaii.
One of the two original Eagles that were voted into the Pro Bowl will not be traveling to Hawaii. That player is Jason Peters. Peters was not forced by the team to sit out of the Pro Bowl and he decided against going on his own. Peters had been dealing with multiple injuries throughout the season and his play was clearly affected. The injury that affected him the most was a dislocated finger which occurred during the Eagles' season opener. Peters probably decided against going to Hawaii so he could rest and heal. This was the sixth time Peters was voted into the Pro Bowl.
First alternate quarterback Nick Foles has now become Pro Bowl quaterback Nick Foles. Because three of the remaining four teams in the playoffs have a Pro Bowl quarterback on them, at least one is going to have to drop out of the exhibition game because it is played the week before the Super Bowl. As of right now, the only quarterback in the playoffs that was not voted into the Pro Bowl is Colin Kaepernick of the San Francisco 49ers. Either Peyton Manning of the Denver Broncos, Tom Brady of the New England Patriots or Russell Wilson of the Seattle Seahawks will have to drop out of the Pro Bowl.
The Pro Bowl teams are no longer divided into the AFC/NFC this year. Since the teams are mixed with players of each conference, it doesn't have to be an NFC quarterback that drops out.
