With the league rushing title in his hands, Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy added another award to his impressive season. After being named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week last week, McCoy was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Month for his performances throughout December. It's the first time that an Eagles running back has won the award.
In the five games the Eagles played in December, McCoy ran for 598 yards and six touchdowns on 101 attempts, averaging 5.92 yards per carry and 119.6 yards per game. He also had 18 receptions for 140 yards and a touchdown.
McCoy's best game in December was against the Detroit Lions. The game was dubbed the "Snow Bowl" due to the fact that both teams were playing in eight inches of snow. Since the passing game wasn't working out, McCoy's ground game went to the next level. McCoy rushed 29 times for two touchdowns and 217 yards, averaging 7.5 yards per carry. His longest carry was for 57 yards. His performance during that game earned him a spot in the Pro Football Hall of Fame where his gear is currently on display just a few feet away from Nick Foles' gear.
For the season, McCoy rushed for a career high 1,607 yards on 314 attempts. He averaged 5.1 yards per carry this season and scored nine rushing touchdowns. He also had 539 receiving yards and two touchdowns on 52 receptions.
McCoy won the league rushing title this season, broke the Eagles' franchise single-season rushing record and the franchise yards from scrimmage record. He was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week once and the FedEx Ground Player of the Week three times.
