The Philadelphia Eagles are dealing with injuries to a couple key players in the Eagles offense. Quarterback Michael Vick is still recovering from his hamstring injury and now Jason Peters was sidelined from practice.
Since the New York Giants game, Vick has been sidelined with a pulled hamstring. He has been limited in practice ever since and it looks like he will continue to be limited for the rest of the week, possibly longer. Vick has been saying that he is feeling better every day, but the injury was worse than he thought it was. The hamstring pull was high and those types of pulls take longer to heal than if it was lower in the hamstring. While rehabbing, Vick tried to run in bursts and he couldn't handle it. That was a clear sign that he isn't going to be ready for the Eagles' game against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday and he will likely be listed as the emergency quarterback again. He was listed as the emergency quarterback against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as Nick Foles started the game with rookie Matt Barkley as the backup.
Left tackle Jason Peters missed practice Wednesday with a shoulder injury. He sustained the injury on Sunday against the Buccaneers. However, Peters returned to the game and finished it out. Chip Kelly said Peters would be limited after he originally thought on Monday that he would be a full participant at practice by Wednesday. All signs point to Peters being ready to go for the game on Sunday.
Running back Chris Polk also sat out of practice Wednesday with a shoulder injury. Polk left the game on Sunday in the first quarter and didn't return. The Eagles finished the game with just two running backs, LeSean McCoy and Bryce Brown. It looks like the Eagles will be heading into Sunday's game with just two running backs as Polk's recovery and return is uncertain at this point.
Safety Patrick Chung was limited at practice as well as he is still nursing a shoulder injury. Chung missed three games because of the injury and he re-aggravated it this past Sunday. However, the injury is now a nerve issue and the Eagles don't know when he will be able to return to action because nerve injuries are unpredictable. Chung went through testing to see if his shoulder would be strong enough for him to participate in practice, but he failed the tests. Earl Wolff will start in Chung's place again if he can't play on Sunday.
