Vick injured his hamstring in the Eagles game against the New York Giants last Sunday. Vick has been practicing in a limited role all of this week. Friday was the first time he was a full participant, but that wasn't enough for Eagles head coach Chip Kelly to start him or even dress him for Sunday's game. Vick said he was feeling better every day, but he should be 100 percent when the Dallas Cowboys come to Philadelphia next week.
With Vick out Sunday, Nick Foles will get the start and rookie Matt Barkley, who has been inactive for each of the first five games, will back Foles up. Foles was on the injury report as well this week when he had a groin issue. However, it doesn't look like it was a serious issue and Foles should be good to go on Sunday.
Foles came in to replace Vick against the Giants and put on a good performance in only one half. He had two touchdowns passes and led the Eagles to a win over the Giants. The last time Foles started a game was against the Buccaneers last season and the Eagles won that game.
Now the quarterback controversy is going to begin since Foles is getting the start. If Foles puts on a good performance and the Eagles get the win on Sunday, should Foles continue to start or should Kelly go back to starting Vick? The next week should be interesting…
