Douglas appeared in Hartford Superior Court in Connecticut Tuesday after he was arrested at a hotel. Police were called to the hotel after Douglas attacked a woman he was with.
Court documents say that Douglas grabbed the woman's neck as well as slammed her against walls. Douglas' excuse for the bruising on her neck and other injuries was that they were a result of rough sex. The court document indicates that Douglas and the woman were in a relationship.
Douglas' charges include third-degree assault as well as second-degree strangulation. The amount of bruising the woman had on her neck warranted the strangulation charge.
After his arraignment Tuesday, Douglas is schedule to appear in court on October 21.
Recently, Douglas has been getting attention for the wrong reasons. He was fired from ESPN last month after making racial slurs toward a co-worker.
