In 31 rush attempts, McCoy ran for 184 yards and one touchdown against the Redskins. His longest run was for 34 yards and he averaged 5.9 yards. Michael Vick only targeted McCoy once for a five yard pass.
Fans vote each week for who they think should be the FedEx Air & Ground Players of the Week. Opposite of McCoy, Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning won the FedEx Air Player of the Week. Both McCoy and Manning are now candidates for this weeks Players of the Week honor.
This isn't the first time McCoy has won the award. He got it twice back in 2011, the best season of his career so far. During that season, McCoy ran 273 times for 1,309 yards and 17 touchdowns. His Player of the Week awards came after his performance against the St. Louis Rams and Dallas Cowboys. McCoy ran for 122 yards and two touchdowns against the Rams during the season opener. His second Player of the Week that season came after a 185 rushing yard game, his career best, against the Cowboys.
McCoy was name the FedEx Ground Player of the Year for 2011 as well. By winning the award for his performance against the Redskins, McCoy is now eligible for the Player of the Year award at the conclusion of the season.
With Chip Kelly's up-tempo offense and the fact the Eagles may get close to running 100 plays per game, McCoy may win the Player of the Week award a few times this season. Considering the closest running back to him ran for 83 yards less, there is a good chance McCoy will be at the top of the rushing leaderboard every week with the among of carries he is expected to get each game.
