Philadelphia Eagles left tackle Jason Peters has returned to the practice field this weekend and hope to be on the playing field Saturday when the team is in Florida to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Peters injured his hamstring a few weeks ago which forced him to miss the first two preseason games against the New England Patriots and Carolina Panthers. The hamstring injury was a setback in his return to the field and his return to the offensive line is a highly welcomed one as the Eagles missed his presence last season after he tore his Achilles tendon.
The offensive line has played well in the first two preseason games. Allen Barbre has filled in for Peters for the past two games and showed that he can do the job. With head coach Chip Kelly and the rest of the coaching staff looking on, Barbre has made a case for him to earn a roster spot because of his performance at tackle and the fact that he can play guard as well.
Kelly now has his best lineman ready to play. With Peters playing opposite of rookie Lane Johnson, Kelly has one of the best offensive tackle tandems in the league. Johnson has played well in his first two NFL preseason games and has had some key blocks. Combine his impressive play with the return of Peters' play, the offensive line will be a forced to be reckoned with if everyone can stay healthy.
Health was the biggest issue last season as player after player went down on the offensive line. Peters was the biggest loss with the Achilles tear. After overcoming a few setbacks, Peters return is going to be welcomed by not only the team, but for all Eagles fans.
