After the loss to the New York Giants yesterday afternoon, all eyes were on Andy Reid as many thought he had just coached his final game as head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles. CSNPhilly's Reuben Frank reported on Sunday afternoon that Andy Reid was out as head coach, but team officials denied the report. However, this morning, the team officially announced that Andy Reid is no longer the head coach of the Eagles.
Team owner Jeffrey Lurie will address the media at 1:00pm EST today, but Andy Reid will not be made available to the media at the press conference. General manager Howie Roseman will answer questions from the media sometime after the press conference. The press conference will be available on local television channels, including CSN-Philadelphia, on the radio on 97.5 FM, and online on CSNPhilly.com.
Lurie met with the team this morning, with Reid meeting with team members individually afterwards. Around 11:00 this morning, Reid also met and spoke with team employees. Holding true the statement that Reid has always been classy while in Philadelphia, he told employees that the ultimate goal is a Super Bowl win and that he hopes that everybody in the room gets "a big ring on [their] finger in the near future."
For the first time in 14 years, the Eagles are now officially searching for a new head coach.
