Brandon Davies, cut one week ago by the Los Angeles Clippers, now finds himself in a Philadelphia 76ers uniform. "I was extremely excited," Davies told the Enquirer about signing with the 76ers.
The rookie forward and Philadelphia native was formally from Brigham Young University, where he averaged 17.7 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.0 block during his senior year, earning him All-West Coast Conference team honors. In addition, he played All-West Coast Conference First Team as a junior and a senior.
He was signed by the Clippers in September and played five preseason games, averaging 3.4 points, 2.8 rebounds, averaging 11.2 minutes per game. He also played with the Clippers' summer league team, averaging 5.8 points and 4.0 rebounds per game.
"There are an intellectual side and a poised side to him that carries over to the game," 76ers first-year coach Brett Brown told the Philadelphia Enquirer. "He's a high IQ type of player and an excellent passer."
The 6-foot-9, 235-pound Davies, brings the total number of forwards on the 76ers team to six, and Philadelphia's opening-day roster to 15 players.
They will open the 2013-14 regular seasons this Wednesday against the two-time defending NBA champion, Miami Heat.
