With the injuries plaguing the team, there is a desperate need for new talent. Centers Nerlens Noel, Kwame Brown, Lavoy Allen and Arnett Moultrie are out indefinitely.
Recently added to the training camp roster are big men Solomon Alabi (Ala-bee) and Nayal “Mac” Koshwal, and size is needed.
Alabi and Koshwal both compete against power forward Hollis Thompson to backup starters, Thaddeus Young and Spencer Hawes.
During Koshwal senior season with DePaul, the Sudanese forward averaged 16 points, 10 rebounds, two steals and a block. He also played in the Summer League team this year.
Alabi, the Nigerian center was on the ACC All-Defensive team, played for the Toronto Raptors during the 2011-12 season and spent last season in the D-League and Greek League. His 7-foot-1, 250-pound frame will add an interior defensive presence.
The 76ers organization could potentially sign both to a one-year or partially guaranteed contract at less than $1 million each and a better chance of drafting franchise player Andrew Wiggins or possibly free agents to be Lebron James or Carmelo Anthony.
