Undrafted rookie guard Vander Blue, out of Marquette, has agreed to a partial guarantee on a camp deal with Philadelphia 76ers, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports.

He will be invited to the 76ers’ training camp, which opens Saturday, Sept. 28 but as of yet he is not on the final roster.

This may turn out to be an effective pick up as the 76ers continue rebuilding towards the future.

At 6’4”, Blue has performed impressively. In the 2013 NCAA Tournament, he had a 29-point outburst in the round of 32 against Butler.

During his final season at Marquette, Blue averaged 14.8 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game and shot at a 45.4 percent clip.

Blue passed on his senior season but was not selected in June’s 2013 NBA Draft.

However, he impressed scouts in the NBA Summer League, playing with the Houston Rockets and the Memphis Grizzlies.

In a combined eight games in Orlando and Las Vegas, Blue averaged just over 11 points and four rebounds per game on about 38 percent shooting, including one 24 point, three rebound performance for the Grizzlies.

The 76ers roster currently stands at 17 players, but NBA teams are only allowed to carry 20 players on their roster until the start of the regular season, at which point the roster has to be cut down to at least 15.

But odds are the 76ers have more than a passing interest in Blue who has the potential to become an explosive and energizing offensive player.
