The bye week came at a great time for the Oakland Raiders. They were dismantled with injuries along the offensive line and quarterback Terrelle Pryor was coming off his toughest start in the NFL. The Raiders had time to address both issues and now will begin their focus on the Pittsburgh Steelers.

After starting the season 0-4, the Steelers have had a resurgence. They used their week five bye to address their issues and have won both games since. This week they fought it out with division rival Baltimore Ravens and came away with the 19-16 win. The previous week they defeated the New York Jets 19-3. The obvious improvement for Pittsburgh after the bye has been defensively, allowing only 19 points in their two wins. They had allowed 110 points in their four losses.

Oakland would like to use their bye as a jump start like Pittsburgh. Last season, the two teams met and Oakland came away with a 34-31 win. Running back Darren McFadden rushed for 118 yards including a 61 yard touchdown in the game. The Raiders will be looking for a similar performance especially with the week off to rest his injuries.

The Raiders and the Steelers have one of the best traditional rivalries in NFL history. The next chapter will be written Sunday in Oakland. The Raiders needed to take full advantage of the bye week, especially when it comes to getting healthy because the Steelers are coming in playing very well.
