Oakland Raiders quarterback Terrelle Pryor took a helmet to helmet shot forcing him to leave the team's 37-21 loss to the Denver Broncos. The hit resulted in a concussion, putting Pryor's status for next Sunday in jeopardy. However, he feels he can go next week against the Washington Redskins.
That is the enthusiasm and heart that you would expect from Pryor, but it is premature. The NFL has concussion test protocols which players must pass before they can be cleared to practice and play. Pryor will begin those tests soon, if he hasn't already, and until he clears all the hurdles, he won't be on the field.
Against the Denver Broncos, Pryor had his best career passing game. He completed 19 of 28 for 281 yards and a touchdown to wide receiver Denarius Moore from 73 yards out. The Redskins have been embarrassed on defense this season, giving up an average of 333 passing yards per game as well as 155 on the ground. It would be a great opportunity for Pryor to continue his development.
As the week moves forward, Pryor's status will be updated. He is a huge part of the Raiders' offense, so it would be a big blow if he is unable to play. He feels good, but until the NFL gives him the green light, it is a wait and see situation.
