The Oakland Raiders have announced three moves today that will get the team down to the NFL limit of 75 players. Oakland placed rookie running back Latavius Murray on injured reserve along with cornerback Joselio Hanson. The team also placed linebacker Miles Burris on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list.
With the injured reserve designations, Murray and Hanson are finished for the year. The Raiders are already using their IR exception on tackle Jared Veldheer in hopes he can come back this season. Burris will be on the PUP list until after week six, at which point he can return to the team or be placed on injured reserve. Murray was thought to have the potential to contribute this season, but ankle surgery last week ended that discussion. He will be healthy at some point during the season, but is now too far behind. Cornerback Tracy Porter will need to remain healthy because Hanson is the team's other nickle back and is gone for the season.
The Raiders announced cuts of 13 other players to reach the 75 player roster limit Monday. Here are the players waived: linebackers Keenan Clayton and Eric Harper, wide receivers Sam McGuffie, Tray Session, and Isaiah Williams, fullback Jon Hoese, cornerback Cory Nelms, center Andrew Robiskie, and defensive tackle Myles Wade. The team also waived/injured back-up center Alex Parsons and defensive end Brandon Bair as well as return man Josh Cribbs.
