There is no competition at kicker. Sebastian Janikowski is one of the best kickers in the league and he is coming off his best season. He will remain the Oakland Raiders kicker as long as he continues his terrific play.
Janikowski converted on 31 of 34 field goals in 2012 which is good for a career high 91.2 percent success rate. He has the best legs of any kicker in the NFL and made a long of 57 yards last season to go along with making six of nine attempts of 50 or more yards. He was perfect on field goals inside of 50 yards. He holds a tie for the NFL record with a 63 yard field goal. In the last two seasons he hasn't shown any signs of slowing down making 62 of 69 field goals. Janikowski could have been considered the Raiders best offensive weapon in 2012 and it the franchise's all-time leading scorer.
Eddy Carmona is the only other kicker on the Raiders roster. He takes some of the workload off of Janikowski during training camp and offseason workouts. He was part of the Raiders last season but was waived in one of the last cuts. He won't be a part of the Raiders, but Carmona can use the opportunity to show what he can bring to other NFL teams. Last preseason he was very good, showing of his strong left leg. He converted three of his four field goal attempts and nailed kicks of 53 and 56 yards.
