Detroit Red Wings Trade Goalie Petr Mrazek

The Red Wings completed a trade Monday with the Flyers. The Red Wings acquire a pair of conditional draft picks in exchange for goalie Petr Mrazek.

Key Players

In Mrazek, the Flyers get an experienced and young goalie, with a number of years left in his career. He has been a number one goalie for most of his career with the Red Wings. After a rough start this season he has bounced back recently recording two shutouts in January. This season he his record is 8-7-3. His save percentage is .910 with a 2.89 goals against average in 22games. In the 2016-17 season, he played 50 games and had 44-18-21 record with a save percentage of .901. Over his six-year NHL career, Mrazek has played for the only the Red Wings. He has put a record of 72-58-20 with 13 shutouts in 166 career games. His career save percentage is .912. The Czech native was originally drafted in the fifth round, 141st overall of the 2010 NHL Entry draft by the Red Wings.

The Flyers look to Mrazek to take over their net while they fight for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. They look to solve a big problem following injuries to Brian Elliott and Michal Neuvirth.

Mrazek is in the final year of his contract. If the Flyers are willing to give him a $4.15 million qualifying offer, he will be a restricted free agent. However, that value of qualifying offer seems unlikely, which will make Mrazek an unrestricted free agent on July 1st.
