While he is fighting like hell to get himself back on the mound in the 2014 season, New York Yankees ace Masahiro Tanaka was the latest player to take and complete the Ice Bucket Challenge to raise awareness and donations for ALS.
Tanaka, who will now throw live batting practice to hitters for the first time since suffering a small tear in his right elbow, put his time to use on Thursday when he took the challenge; probably the one issues by Yankees general partner Jennifer Steinbrenner-Swindal, and completed the challenge, his translator was the one to dump the bucket of ice cold water onto him.
Because Tanaka is speaking Japanese in the video, we are not sure whose challenge he accepted, nor who he issues a challenge to (for those who do speak Japanese fluently, your help would be greatly appreciated on Tanaka's dialouge in the video.)
The one thing that is rather comical to see was Tanaka's reaction to getting the ice water poured over his head, as he lets out a hilarious sound, one that likely will be played over and over again on YouTube and Facebook when seen.
Tanaka, CC Sabathia, Shawn Kelley, Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez are all current Yankees who have taken and completed the Ice Bucket Challenge with now Tanaka being the latest one to complete it.
