You can pretty much seal the deal that Michael Pineda will be returning to the New York Yankees on Wednesday versus the Baltimore Orioles after a stellar finish to his rehab assignment in Triple-A.

Pineda looked dominant in his second outing, putting up seven strikeouts over 4.1 innings pitched, surrendering just one run on five hits in 72 pitches, per Meredith Marakovits of YES Network:

Mrs. Marakovits did make one boo-boo, but it's OK:

The best thing to see about that line is the amount of strikeouts. Pineda is a guy who can make hitters swing and miss, and when he's doing that you know he's feeling good.

Now that Pineda has thrown 72 pitches in a start, he's capable of throwing at least 80 his next time out, which should be Wednesday for the series finale at Camden Yards barring any issues in the morning.

It has already been reported that Pineda will likely skip his originally scheduled third rehab start in order to make his return five days earlier. Though his pitch count is still limited, Pineda will give just as many, if not more length than one of the arms out of the bullpen.

While the Yankees pitching staff has held it together in his absence, Pineda still adds an element that New York's starting five doesn't have. Pineda has the ability to be a go-to guy in October with his great stuff, the only question will be about his health.

For now, it looks like the 25-year-old is strong and ready to make an impact for the stretch run of the season.
