Now that the New York Yankees have let Matt Thornton go to the Washington Nationals, the team needs a new left-hander in the bullpen and just so happens to have a few options in the minors to fill the void.

Yankees general manager Brian Cashman named a few young players he has his eye on to replace Thornton, with the biggest name being Manny Banuelos, who is one of the most highly-touted propsects in the Yanks' system, per Daniel Barbarisi of The Wall Street Journal:

Banuelos is coming off Tommy John surgery in 2012 and after missing the entire 2013 season, Banuelos is finally starting to find his form in 2014. After a rocky start, Banuelos has allowed just one earned run in his last three outings, while striking out 11 in 14 innings of work.

Cashman also listed Jacob Lindgren, the Yanks' No. 1 pick in 2014, as an option. The 21-year-old is pitching to an ERA under one in 13.1 innings since joining the Yankees organization. James Pazos was also mentioned, as his 1.33 ERA in Double-A has impressed.

Tyler Webb appears to be the most ready-made big-league arm out of the younger options Cashman has. Webb has jumped three classes this season and the 24-year-old is pitching to a 2.08 ERA in Triple-A, his best mark of any class he's been in.

More than likely you'll see Webb first before either of the other two. Lindgren is still pretty inexperienced–even for a minor leaguer–and the Yankees would really like to get Banuelos to the bigs as a starter instead of converting him to a reliever and switching back in the future.

With the way things have gone this season in regard to injuries, it's all hands on deck at all times for the Bronx Bombers, so you can't really rule out anyone being called up to the Yankees in 2014.
