For his on-field performances as the ace of the New York Yankees pitching staff and his off-field contributions as the co-founder of the PitCCh In Foundation with his wife Amber, CC Sabathia has been named one of the recipients of the 33rd annual Thurman Munson award.

The athletes will be honored at the Thurman Munson Awards Dinner on February 5th at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in New York City.
In addition to Sabathia, the Yankees have another playing receiving an award, as right-hander David Phelps will be honored with the second annual Rising Star award. Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira and Yankees Hall of Famer Yogi Berra were honored at last year's ceremony.
