Though CC Sabathia is currently wearing a brace after undergoing surgery on his throwing elbow, the New York Yankees ace says he expects to be ready when spring training starts in February.

"I feel pretty good," said Sabathia, while volunteering for Hurricane Sandy relief at Yankee Stadium. "The flexibility is coming back. I expect there to be no delays up until spring training so I should be ready to go."

Sabathia, 32, had surgery done by Dr. James Andrews to remove bone spurs from his left elbow in late October. Though he was placed on the disabled list twice this season, he still managed to reach 200 innings pitched for the sixth straight season.

The tall left-hander was 15-6 with a 3.38 ERA this past season, with two wins and a 3.38 ERA in three postseason starts as well.

With Andy Pettitte considering retirement, Hiroki Kuroda testing free agency, and Ivan Nova being removed from the rotation late in the season, the Yankees are heading into the offseason with a questionable starting rotation. New York will look to retain both Pettitte and Kuroda, but will need Sabathia to return healthy and anchor the top of the team's rotation.
