Over the weekend, the Montreal Canadiens and Ottawa Senators played a home-and-home series in which the Habs won both games. This could really hurt the New York Rangers chances of making it out of the Atlantic Division bracket in the playoffs.
While the New York Rangers made it out of their weekend games with three points, giving them 93 on the season, this weekend was not a great one for them in the standings.
Since the Rangers, who hold the NHL’s 5th best record, are in the stacked Metropolitan Division, they are currently seeded in the first Wild Card slot, a slot that would have them facing the winner of the Atlantic Division in the first round of the NHL playoffs.
And, for that reason, this weekend couldn’t get any worse for New York.
