We bet you were caught off guard to not see a game story when the New York Rangers lost 4-3 in a shootout last night to the New York Islanders last night.
Well, quite frankly, we didn't feel like it after completely jinxing the Rangers after their hot start. For those who didn't watch the game, midway through the first period, the Rangers had a 2-0 lead and a 10-1 advantage in shots. They were completely outplaying the Isles, and we wanted to connect with NYC Barstool Sports' hockey writer Osgood on the game.
@philosgood I'm surprised ur not #Isles bashing...then again, their play does that for itself

Boy did that backfire.
The Rangers took that 2-0 lead into the locker room after the first, but not even eight minutes into the third period we had a completely different hockey game on our hands.
Rangers goalie Martin Biron allowed three goals in the first eight minutes of the second period, and the Islanders had a 3-2 lead. Two of the three goals came in a 40-second span and the life was taken out of Madison Square Garden.
Sure, the big story in the media this week will be about the Rangers inability to hold onto a lead as of late — as this is the second game in a row they had a lead and needed overtime to decide the winner.
However, the story in our head will be that tweet and how the Islanders took over once it hit the air. We're attributing the fact that the Rangers failed to walk away with two points to that tweet, and won't talk trash until a game is officially over as we've all learned that no lead is safe when you're the New York Rangers.
