We knew Carl Hagelin had returned to New York to rehab his shoulder injury, but now he's officially done playing for Sodertalje SK.

The team officially terminated Hagelin's contract, so the young winger will no longer return to the club. He came home to avoid further injury, and looks as if this is where he will stay.

The team released this statement:

There is of course incredibly unfortunate for us, but especially for Calle he happened to this injury. The matches he could do for us has really been able to see the parent club Calle has. Meanwhile, it’s like this in the sport, it suffers damage and it’s not so much you can do except complain. We want to thank Calle for all the positive things he has contributed both to ice on the side and we wish him a speedy to recovery.

The contract is set for termination on Dec. 8, but if the lockout continues, when Hagelin is healthy, the team said they'd be happy to bring Hagelin back.

For us NHL fans, let's hope the lockout doesn't come to that.
