After dropping two of three against the Atlanta Braves, the New York Mets (62-72) are back to 10 games below .500. The Mets have struggled of late, losing nine of their last 12 games. The Mets will try to improve their fortunes tonight as they welcome the last place Philadelphia Phillies (61-72) to town for their final three meetings of the season. The gap between the two teams has closed significantly, with the Mets leading the Phillies by half a game for fourth place. First pitch for tonight's contest at Citi Field is scheduled for 7:10 pm.

The Mets will send right hander Jacob deGrom (6-6, 3.13 ERA) to the mound. deGrom was roughed up in his return from the disabled list, allowing five runs in six innings in a loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Phillies will counter with righty David Buchanan (6-7, 4.21 ERA). Buchanan took a no decision in his last outing, allowing two runs in five innings against the St. Louis Cardinals.
