After getting their first day off since July 31st yesterday, the New York Mets (60-68) are back in action tonight. They will continue their West Coast swing in the city of angels as they visit the Los Angeles Dodgers (72-57) to open up a three game weekend set. The Dodgers have taken command of the National League West since the two teams last met, leading the San Francisco Giants by 3.5 games. The opener of tonight's series is scheduled for 10:10 pm at Dodger Stadium.
The Mets will send lefty Jonathon Niese (7-8, 3.50 ERA) to the mound. Niese picked up a win in his last start against the Chicago Cubs, allowing three runs in six innings. The Dodgers will counter with righty Dan Haren (10-10, 4.59 ERA). Haren took a loss in his last start, allowing six runs in three innings against the Milwaukee Brewers.

- The Mets activated Bartolo Colon from the bereavement list prior to tonight's game. To make room for Colon, the Mets optioned Gonzalez Germen back to Triple-A Las Vegas.
- The Mets will have Dana Eveland and Jenrry Mejia available out of the bullpen tonight. Mejia was unavailable on Wednesday with a back issue while Eveland received a cortisone shot for a sore left elbow.
