After winning 3-2 last night, the New York Mets (58-65) snapped a three game losing streak. Eric Campbell's three run home run in the fourth inning proved to be the difference in a 3-2 victory over the Chicago Cubs (52-69). The Mets will now look to win their second in a row against Chicago as the two teams resume their series tonight. First pitch at Citi Field is scheduled for 7:10 pm.
The Mets will send lefty Jonathon Niese (6-8, 3.46 ERA) to the mound. Niese finally got his sixth win of the year in his last outing, tossing seven innings of two run ball to beat the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday. The Cubs will counter with right hander Dan Straily (1-2, 4.93 ERA). Straily will be making his Cubs debut after coming over in the Jeff Samardzjia trade with the Oakland A's.
