David Wright and several of his New York Mets' teammates are offering a unique fantasy football experience to benefit charity. Wright, along with second baseman Daniel Murphy and starting pitchers Dillon Gee, Jonathon Niese, and Matt Harvey will participate in a fantasy football league open to New York Mets' fans. The entry fee for this league is $3,000 dollars, and the proceeds will go to benefit the New York Mets' Foundation and the Ronald McDonald Houses in Long Island and Manhattan.
The setup is that each of the five players will be placed in their own fantasy football league, with the 11 other spots up for bid. A $3,000 dollar contribution will guarantee a team in a league that is randomly assigned. Each league will contain one Mets player, giving fans an opportunity to play fantasy football with a big leaguer. The leagues will hold a live draft on Wednesday, August 27th, at Citi Field. The event that day will also feature a VIP experience at Mets' batting practice, tickets to the game between the Mets and Braves that night, autographed memorabilia from participating players, and photo ops with the participating players and Mr. Met.
