Mets 101 Game Preview: New York Mets at Milwaukee Brewers

After falling 5-2 last night, the New York Mets (49-55) will look to salvage a series split with the Milwaukee Brewers (59-46). The two teams will wrap up their four game set this afternoon at Miller Park. First pitch is Miller Park is scheduled for 2:10 pm. 

The Mets will send righty Jacob deGrom (4-5, 3.01 ERA) to the mound this afternoon. deGrom picked up a win in his last outing on Tuesday, tossing seven innings of one run ball to beat the Seattle Mariners. The Brewers will counter with rookie right hander Jimmy Nelson (1-1, 5.06 ERA). Nelson took a no decision in his last outing after allowing three runs in six innings against the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday.

  • deGrom faced the Brewers once before, on June 11th at Citi Field. He took a loss after allowing three earned runs in 5.2 innings.
  • The Mets will be facing Nelson for the second time, after Nelson got a start against them at Citi Field at the end of last season. Nelson tossed five innings of one run ball in that contest.
  • Jonathon Lucroy had success against deGrom in New York, going 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI against him.
  • The Mets can finish their 10 game road trip 5-5 with a win today.
