The New York Mets (36-42) head to the Steel City to kick off a four-game weekend series with the Pittsburgh Pirates (39-39) Friday night at PNC Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM. The two teams met earlier this season in a three-game series at Citi Field, with the Mets currently leading the season series two games to one.

Mets Starting Lineup

  1. RF Curtis Granderson
  2. 2B Daniel Murphy
  3. 3B David Wright
  4. 1B Lucas Duda
  5. LF Bobby Abreu
  6. CF Juan Lagares
  7. C Travis d'Arnaud
  8. SS Ruben Tejada
  9. SP Daisuke Matsuzaka

Daisuke Matsuzaka (3-1, 2.68) starts for the Amazins after suffering a hard-luck loss in last Friday's 3-2 defeat to Miami in which he allowed just one run over 5 1/3 innings. Dice-K has never pitched against the Pirates in his MLB career.

Vance Worley (1-0, 1.98) makes the start for Pittsburgh for just the third time this season, with key starters Francisco Liriano and Gerrit Cole still out of action. Worley has stepped in admirably, allowing just three runs over his two starts while pitching into the seventh inning in both. Lifetime, the Mets have had his number, as he holds a 3-4 record with a 6.64 ERA in ten appearances against the Amazins.

Pre-Game Notes

  • Andrew McCutchen leads the Pirates in every major offensive category coming into Thursday as he's tops in batting average (.315) and RBI (48) while also tying for the team lead in homers (12) with Pedro Alvarez.
