Mets 101 Game Preview: New York Mets at Miami Marlins

After getting Jacob deGrom a win yesterday, the New York Mets are feeling good. The Mets (34-41) have split the first six games of their seven game road trip, and can secure a winning trip with a victory this afternoon. The Mets have already won two of the first three games in their series with the Miami Marlins (37-37), and can win the series with a victory in the finale. First pitch for this afternoon's contest at Marlins Park is scheduled for 1:10 pm.

The Mets will send lefty Jonathon Niese (3-4, 2.67 ERA) to the mound this afternoon. Niese suffered a loss in his last time out, allowing three runs in six innings against the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday. The Marlins will counter with rookie right hander Anthony DeSclafani (1-1, 5.60 ERA). DeSclafani took a no decision in his last outing, allowing four runs in 6.1 innings against the Chicago Cubs.

  • Kirk Nieuwenhuis gets a start in center field today and will bat fifth in the order.
