The New York Mets (31-40) lost again last night. The Mets fell 5-2 to the St. Louis Cardinals (39-32), dropping the first two games of their three game set. The Mets will look to avoid the broom this afternoon at Busch Stadium. First pitch for today's getaway game is scheduled for 1:45 pm.
The Mets will send veteran righty Bartolo Colon (6-5, 4.15 ERA) to the bump. Colon has been the Mets' best starter of late, and will look to continue his winning ways this afternoon. Colon picked up a victory in his last time out, allowing two runs over seven innings to beat the San Diego Padres Friday night. The Cardinals will counter with righty Lance Lynn (7-4, 3.16 ERA). Lynn was also strong in his last outing, picking up the win after tossing eight shutout innings against the Washington Nationals.
