The New York Mets (19-22) fell a foot short of a dramatic ninth inning rally last night. Daniel Murphy hit a fly ball that was caught by Jayson Werth at the wall, robbing him of a three run homer and a chance to tie the game. The Washington Nationals (22-19) defeated the Mets 5-2, and the Mets' losing streak hit three as a result. Today is a new day, however, and the Mets will look to snap their losing skid this afternoon at 4:05 pm at Nationals Park.
Bartolo Colon (2-5, 5.84 ERA) will be on the mound for the Mets. Colon struggled in his last outing against the Yankees, allowing seven runs in 5.2 innings but taking a no decision thanks to the Mets' offensive outburst Monday night. The Nationals will counter with lefty Gio Gonzalez (3-3, 3.97 ERA), who was roughed up by the A's in his last outing to the tune of seven runs in 4.1 innings pitched.

- Wilmer Flores also finds his way back into the lineup for the first time in a week. Flores will hit eighth and play shortstop.
