- The Mets cut veteran reliever Kyle Farnsworth Thursday afternoon, one day after demoting him from the closer role. Farnsworth recorded the save in Monday's Subway Series opener and had posted an 0-3 record with three saves and a 3.18 ERA in 19 appearances this season. He is expected to decline assignment to AAA and become a free agent.
- Lefty Josh Edgin will be recalled from AAA Las Vegas prior to Thursday's game to take Farnsworth's spot in the Mets bullpen. Edgin is 3-0 with a 4.97 ERA in seventeen appearances this season for the 51's and has pitched in 68 games for the big club over the past two seasons.
- Thursday will mark the final regular season game for Derek Jeter against the Mets. The retiring Yankee captain holds a lifetime .368 average against the Amazins with 13 homers and 44 RBI over 87 games.
- Travis d'Arnaud is headed to the 7-day concussion disabled list and Juan Centeno has been recalled from AAA Las Vegas to start in Thursday's game.
