Mets 101's Seven in Seven series returns in 2014 as our gift to you. Each week, the Mets 101 staff will begin a countdown of something related to the New York Mets ( i.e. best third baseman, worst defeat, etc.). We will begin our countdown on Tuesdays with the number seven and work all the way to number one. Inspired by recent lack events involving the New York Mets, this week’s countdown has little to do with the baseball team itself and instead looks at seven of the most famous celebrity Met fans. We kick off our countdown with Brooklyn born, Queens raised multi-platinum rapper, Nas

7) Nas

Nas has sold eight consecutive platinum and multiplatinum albums in his almost 20 years of rapping. He as totaled over 25 million records sold. His debut album, Illmatic, is among the best rap albums ever written and he has been placed in the pantheon of great rappers with Tupac, Notorious B.I.G., and Jay-Z. He also starred along side fellow rapper, DMX in the movie, Belly.

Born in Brooklyn, Nas grew up a stones throw away from Shea Stadium in the Queensbridge Housing Projects in Long Island City, Queens. He has been a life long Mets fan and frequently sports Mets gear when performing in concert.

During the 2013 season, Nas performed as part of the Mets’ “Postgame Concert Series.” He performed after the July 19 matchup with the Philadelphia Phillies. It was the first time he performed at Citi Field and he was the first rapper to perform as part of the Concert Series.
