The New York Mets and GM Sandy Alderson made their first big splash of the 2013 offseason Friday afternoon, coming to terms with free agent outfielder Curtis Granderson on a four-year, $60M contract.

The 32-year old spent the last four seasons with the Yankees, batting .245 with 115 homers and 307 RBI in pinstripes. Granderson missed all but 61 games last season after breaking his hand – twice – being hit by pitches. The result was career lows in batting average (.229), homers (7) and RBI (15).

Granderson is the second free agent outfielder signed this offseason, joining Chris Young, who came over from Oakland, signing a one-year, $7.25M contract last week.
