Just in time for the holiday season, Mets 101's Seven in Seven series returns as our gift to you. Each week, the Mets 101 staff will begin a countdown of something related to the New York Mets ( i.e. best third baseman, worst defeat, etc.). We will begin our countdown on Sundays with the number seven and work all the way to number one. This week's Seven in Seven list is a dandy, as we will break down the greatest Mets players of all time. We will conclude our countdown today with the greatest Met of all time, Tom Seaver.

1. Tom Seaver

All Time Mets Stats: 395 starts, 198-124 record, 2.57 ERA, 171 complete games, 44 Shutouts, 2541 strikeouts, 1.076 WHIP.

Analysis: Tom "Terrific" may truly have been the New York Mets first franchise player, making his MLB debut in 1967 and anchoring the staff for the next eleven seasons. That first season, Seaver won the National League rookie of the year award, as well as being named to the first of seven consecutive NL All-Star squads. Seaver would go on to represent the Mets in ten midsummer classics, while laso taking home three Cy Young awards. Seaver played a key role in the Mets 1969 World Series run, throwing 18 complete games en route to 25 wins and the 1969 NL Cy Young. After Seaver was shockingly dealt to Cincinnati in 1977, he did return for one final season as a Met before donning both White and Red Sox for his last three big league seasons. Seaver's longevity in orange and blue made him the first and (so far) only New York Met in Cooperstown, with the interlocking NY on his cap. Since Seaver, the Mets have really only produced one starter, Doc Gooden, who came close to the level of dominance that Tom Terrific enjoyed and Seaver will go down in history as the greatest Met of all-time.
