As the negotiations between the New York Mets and David Wright continue on, the rumors have begun to really heat up with rampant speculation over the contract terms being discussed. Here's a recap of events from Tuesday, November 27:
- Ken Rosenthal reports Mets initial offer made on Monday to Wright was for six years, $100M
- Andy Martino reports that the Mets upped the offer to seven years in excess of $100M.
- Mets believe they'll be able to re-sign Wright, a source close to the team tells ESPN New York, however Jayson Stark reports that they don't see a deal getting done prior to the Winter Meetings.
- Jon Heyman reports the Mets are offering seven years, $135-$140M
- Rosenthal reports the Mets offered seven years, $119-$129M
- Mike Puma tells the NY Post that the hang-up is over deferred money according to an industry source with close connections to the Mets.
