Loading ...As the negotiations between the New York Mets and David Wright continue on, the rumors have begun to really heat up with rampant speculation over the contract terms being discussed. Here's a recap of events from Tuesday, November 27:
- Ken Rosenthal reports Mets initial offer made on Monday to Wright was for six years, $100M
- Andy Martino reports that the Mets upped the offer to seven years in excess of $100M.
- Mets believe they'll be able to re-sign Wright, a source close to the team tells ESPN New York, however Jayson Stark reports that they don't see a deal getting done prior to the Winter Meetings.
- Jon Heyman reports the Mets are offering seven years, $135-$140M
- Rosenthal reports the Mets offered seven years, $119-$129M
- Mike Puma tells the NY Post that the hang-up is over deferred money according to an industry source with close connections to the Mets.
