Tom Thibodeau is probably the best basketball coach in the world. The former New York Knicks assistant gained a reputation as an elite defensive mind and has done an unbelievable job leading an often injured Chicago Bulls roster. He now says the only job he'd leave his position in Chicago for is his dream job as Knicks head coach.

Reportedly Tom Thibodeau has a rocky relationship with the Chicago Bulls' front office. He still has three years left on his contract but still finds his name in coaching discussions because of the rift. There's several teams who would love to hire him. That list includes the New York Knicks.

Ric Bucher of Bleacher Report reports the only one job that would cause him to consider making a change is the head coaching position with the New York Knicks.

“There’s only one place that Thibodeau would really push to go elsewhere, and that’s to go back to the New York Knicks,” Bucher said. “That, I’m told by one source, is actually his dream job, to go back and get the Knicks back on the map. But short of that, he realizes that no matter where he goes, the grass isn’t always greener.”

New York would clearly need to send compensation to Chicago in order to gain Thibodeau's services. The Knicks don't have much to offer. That being said, Thibodeau also doesn't have ties to Phil Jackson.

Thibodeau would still be the best candidate for the Knicks job, even more so than any of Jackson's inner circle. It's unknown if Thibodeau would be open to running the triangle offense. That being said, if Jackson can bring Thibodeau to New York he should do so no matter what system he'd want to run.

In fact, despite having his top assistant coach, Ron Adams, fired by general manager Gar Forman. The team also traded away his favorite player, Luol Deng. Thibodeau should also have concerns over often hurt superstar point guard Derrick Rose.

That being said, Thibodeau has still been able to make the Bulls contenders in the Eastern Conference. Without connections to Jackson, it seems unlikely that New York would call Chicago about Thibodeau anytime soon.

Thibodeau is expected to be at the helm for the Bulls next season. That being said, with a bad relationship people will continue to talk. Until he and the Bulls release a statement or sign him to an extension, speculation will continue. He'll also become one of the more attractive coaching candidates for the Knicks vacancy this off-season.
