New York Knicks Couldn’t Score Enough as They Fall 81-76 to Indiana Pacers

New York Knicks lose to the Indiana Pacers 81-76 as the Pacers D was too much for the Knicks without Carmelo Anthony. The New York Knicks couldn't seem to get the ball in the basket consistently or easily. It seemed like even the shots made were difficult shots. Also, New York Knicks had 0 fast break points while Indiana Pacers had 10.

Paul George carried Indiana Pacers with 24 points along with 11 rebounds, and 5 assists. George also is a big reasons for JR Smith's struggle from the field. He played a complete game on both ends of the floor and was a lot for New York Knicks to handle.

The key to this game was the Indiana Pacers defense and ability to slow down New York Knicks potent offense. Led by Paul George's 6 steals, the New York Knicks couldn't get comfortable on offense. JR Smith had 25 points on 10/29 shooting and at times it looked like it was JR Smith vs. the Pacers because he had very little help offensively.

This was one of the Knicks lone highlights provided by JR Smith in the first half.

The New York Knicks average about 11 3's made  a game but they only made 4 tonight. The Indiana Pacers allow the least 3's made per game and tonights game shows why that's true and why the Indiana Pacers are a top ranked defense in this league. They held the Miami Heat to just 77 points last night as well.

New York Knicks have now lost 4 out of 6 games and in those past few games, defense was the problem. Tonight it was the offense that was the problem. New York Knicks shot about 35% from the field and 20% from 3 point range. That is not going to get it done. In a game like tonight, without Carmelo Anthony or Raymond Felton, one would hope Amare Stoudemire would have a big game but he is just not back at that point yet. I believe Amare Stoudemire will get back to that point soon though as his minutes start to increase and he gets back in the flow of things.

Another thing which was reiterated tonight was how important Carmelo Anthony and even Raymond Felton are to this team. Offensively, these two players turn the Knicks from average to great. Tonights loss vs. the Pacers show how valuable Carmelo Anthony is, especially in the 4th quarter. Carmelo Anthony would be able to take pressure off of JR Smith and vice versa.

The New York Knicks need Carmelo Anthony on the floor and scoring. But, on the positive note, the New York Knicks continue to fight through every game and play hard.

Knicks fans do not have anything to worry about, except the Chicago Bulls tomorrow who have beaten the Knicks twice already, but the Knicks will be back with Carmelo Anthony and ready to go. Also Iman Shumpert is on his way back and the New York Knicks will be just fine.

P.S New York Knicks have not lost more than 2 games in a row this season. Tomorrow they take on the Chicago Bulls and try to keep their longest losing streak of the season to only 2 with a big win vs. the Bulls. Also, some talks of the New York Knicks going after veteran Kenyon Martin, but it is more complicated regarding how many guaranteed contracts New York Knicks already have but this is something Knicks 101 will look into going forward.
