If you've lived in New York for any real amount of time you've seen people come and go. Politicians, musicians, actors, sports figures and more have all stated they were here to stay only to eventually leave. When Carmelo Anthony was granted his trade to the New York Knicks he claimed he was home. This was where he wanted to be. This was were he wanted to play. He was here to stay. Thanks to Madame Tussauds wax museum Carmelo can be seen in New York for generations to come.
Carmelo Anthony is a big deal in New York. He is one of the best offensive basketball players in the world. Amare Stoudemire was already a Knick when Carmelo was granted his trade but Carmelo is a different kind of superstar. Fans were excited when Carmelo donned the Knicks uniform and restored hope to Madison Square Garden.
Thousands flocked to the Garden hoping to see Carmelo and the new look Knicks. It had been years since fans felt the hope, confidence and pride that Carmelo and company restored to the faithful.
Now fans have a second place to see Carmelo. He's been turned into wax at the famous Madame Tussauds wax museum.
Dan Devine of Yahoo Sports reports Carmelo has now been joined a star filled list of immortalized basketball greats in wax.
The New York branch of famed international wax museum Madame Tussauds unveiled its newest addition on Tuesday afternoon — a life-sized figure of New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony, now on display at the museum's Times Square location. Anthony joins notable roundball predecessors like Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O'Neal, Yao Ming and Dirk Nowitzki on the list of NBA players who've been immortalized in this deeply, deeply creepy fashion.
A large and clear picture of the wax figure can be seen here thanks to Darren Rovell of CNBC's Twitpic.

The wax figure is now on display at the museum's Time Square location. Carmelo had to pose for six hours for the sculptors. He posed after a practice last season.
Carmelo is a legitimate celebrity and figure in New York. It probably can't be said that anyone deserves a wax figure of themselves made but if any current Knicks player was going to be given the honor Carmelo is the right choice. Hopefully Carmelo will now concentrate on bringing home Gold in the London Olympics and return to the Knicks ready to bring home the Larry O'Brien championship trophy. If he can do that, wax figure or not, Carmelo will be truly immortal in New York.
