ESPN New York ran a poll starting on March 12th having fans vote on who they believe is the most beloved athlete in New York.  Jeremy Lin was the 4 seed and in surprising fashion was voted the most beloved athlete in New York.  He upset Mariano Rivera in the finals by a wide margin, capturing 70% of the vote.

 

Jeremy Lin also took out the number 1 seed Derek Jeter to get to the finals, who most believe is the most beloved athlete in New York.  Lin also defeated New York Mets third basemen David Wright and New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz in teh first and second round respectively.  

Jeremy Lin has become an overnight sensation in New York.  Although it seems "Linsanity" is over, Jeremy Lin continues to put up good numbers for the Knicks.  He went from being on the verge of being cut to being a must resign for the Knicks and the future at the Point Guard position.

It really has been a Cinderella story for Jeremy Lin this year.  He started the season not in the NBA and now his future seems bright and has a stable home now here in New York. The days of sleeping on a couch are over for Lin who is now the "most beloved athlete in New York."
