Yesterday the New York Jets cut loose seven players well ahead of the 4 p.m. Eastern time deadline on Tuesday for all 32 clubs to get down to 75 players. Today they released six more to get there so they can concentrate on evaluating the rest they will need to cut/release to get down to 53 just two days after there game with Philadelphia on Thursday night.
Those players released by the New York Jets today include:
By cutting loose Jacoby Ford the Jets may be signaling that wide receivers Saalim Hakim and Clyde Gates may both make the squad and share the kick-off return duties. Ras-I Dowling had not even seen the field during much of any of the three preseason games to date, but then again neither has Johnny Patrick who remains with the team (for now). With all of the current roster cuts it leaves four players who signed reserve/future contracts, S Rontez Miles, C Dalton Freeman, DT's Tevita Finau and T.J. Barnes, plus three un-drafted free agents, DL Kerry Hyder, DE Zach Thompson and OT Brent Qvale as possibilities to make the squad.
Seeing your team play in the SuperBowl is priceless. Watching the SuperBowl live in the stands for $1 per week is beyond priceless.
