New York Jets rookie wide receiver Shaq Evans has not been available for most of the duration of training camp due to suffering a shoulder injury, one that has been referred to as pretty bad, which is how Jets head coach Rex Ryan referred to it the last time he spoke to the media.

On Tuesday, Evans himself revealed on Twitter that he would be having surgery on the shoulder and is very hopeful for a speedy recovery and to get back onto the field for the team.

Because people are viewing Evans' shoulder injury as a serious one, there is a very good possibility that the Jets may put Evans on season-ending injured reserve, although if they do that, they are likely to wait until the final cut downs happen to get the roster to 53 players so they don't risk having Evans subjected to being picked up off waivers.

Evans was a fourth-round pick out of UCLA for the Jets in this past May's 2014 NFL Draft, but with this injury, his rookie season may be over before it could even get started.
