The New York Jets have been eliminated from the playoffs, but head coach Rex Ryan is trying anything he can to close out the season strong. Rex Ryan doesn't think he will hold the title of head coach much longer and told the team just that yesterday in a team meeting. Ryan told the team that he believes he will be fired after the final two games of this season and has asked the team to ride out the last two weeks with him and give their best effort.

New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan told his team that he believes he will be fired at the conclusion of the regular season. Jay Glazer of Fox reported the news on the FOX NFL Pregame Show:

“Guys I got two weeks left here. You guys ride with me, roll with me here and we will see what happens over the next two weeks,” Glazer reports Ryan told the team.

The whole situation tells of some issues within the Jets organization. Rex Ryan told his team that the "word on the street" is that he will be fired. Either he was told by someone higher up that he's done after these two games or there are whispers going around the team facility that he's getting fired. That's not healthy for an organization and indicates some loose lips within the franchise. Beyond that, the fact that Ryan's talk with his players in a team meeting has already been passed on to the media isn't a good thing either.

This could be Rex Ryan just trying to get his team fired up in the interest of saving his job without actually knowing that the team is set to fire him. Perhaps he truly believes his job is on the line depending on how the team finishes and is leveraging that to get the best possible effort out of his team these last two weeks.

We won't have a real answer on this until the season concludes, but the debate will rage on as to whether Rex Ryan deserves to be fired.
