Mark Sanchez has likely thrown his last pass in green and white. The New York Jets quarterback is expected to undergo season-ending surgery on his torn labrum. At that point the Jets would place him on the injured reserve, ending his season. The Jets are expect to let Mark Sanchez go after the conclusion of this season, with Geno Smith pegged as their quarterback of the future. Mark Sanchez isn't completely on board at this point with giving up hope of being able to recover without surgery.
Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez has been diagnosed with a torn labrum, which will probably require season-ending surgery. Mark Sanchez is currently under the care of Dr. James Andrews, who has become a star in his own right after the remarkable recovery of Adrian Peterson, as well as Robert Griffin III.
Since Geno Smith is firmly entrenched as the starting quarterback, which means Mark Sanchez will be forced to find a new team this offseason, it makes no sense for him to delay having surgery. He would be better served to get the surgery over with, return to football activities as soon as possible, and prepare to workout for teams this offseason.
Still, Mark Sanchez is expected to begin with rehabilitation, which will delay the surgery to the point that it might not happen until after the season. While he's sidelined, Sanchez might want to think about scooping up one of these sweet Gang Green shirts.
With the addition of Brady Quinn, the Jets are clearly looking to move forward with their quarterback situation. At this point anything short of a complete meltdown won't be enough to move Geno Smith out from under center. Smith was far from perfect on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but showed some nice signs. He kept the game close and battled back late to pull out a surprising win. As he becomes more comfortable in the offense and Santonio Holmes works himself back into form, the offense should be on the upswing.
