On Sunday the New York Jets continued to tweak their roster be re-signing running back Kahlil Bell and releasing running back John Griffin. The Jets also added wide receiver Rahsaan Vaughn after waiving two injured wide receivers in Marcus Davis and Vidal Hazelton.

After the first preseason game, a 26-17 loss to the Detroit Lions, the New York Jets took yet another look at their roster and decided they needed healthier players at both running back and wide receiver. The team signed Kahlil Bell, who played in three games with the Jets last year but was waived in December. John Griffin, who was fighting for a spot in the backfield, was waived to make room for Bell. He was assigned Griffin's number 24. Rahsaan Vaughn is a six-foot two-inch tall rookie out of Oregon and takes the place of wide receiver Vidal Hazelton on the roster. Vaughn was assigned number 18, which had been Hazelton's number. Both Hazelton and the recently released wide receiver Marcus Davis were added to the Jets injured reserve.

Wide receiver Michael Campbell, who was re-signed last week, still has not been assigned a number per the New York Jets website even though we are sure he has one while practicing with the team. This year's roster cut down dates are as follows: from the maximum of 90 to 75 players by 4 p.m. Eastern time on August 27th, and from 75 down to 53 by 6 p.m., four days later, on August 31st.

The running back depth chart has been an ongoing issue for the Jets throughout training camp. Joe McKnight has been dealing with injuries and legal issues, Mike Goodson still hasn't shown up and Chris Ivory just returned to individual drills today. The step of making a move such as signing Kahlil Bell doesn't bode well for Joe McKnight moving forward. If Mike Goodson doesn't return soon, his time with the Jets could also be short-lived.
