While the New York Jets are still looking to nail down their general manager, the team has also started interviewing candidates for their vacancy at offensive coordinator after the firing of Tony Sparano following his first season with the Jets. Some interesting candidates have popped up so far, including some with obvious ties to head coach Rex Ryan. Among those interviewed so far are: Cam Cameron, Pat Shurmur, Hue Jackson, Pep Hamilton and Marty Mornhinweg

The New York Jets are trying to move on from the offensive disasters they have put forth over the last two seasons under Brian Schottenheimer and Tony Sparano, hoping that a new offensive coordinator can get the offense moving in the right direction. The Jets offense has been explosively bad the past two seasons, undermining a defense that held up its end of the bargain. The Jets have already started interviewing candidates for the position.

Cam Cameron worked with Rex Ryan as members of the Baltimore Ravens coaching staff. Cam Cameron lost his job this season and was replaced by former Indianapolis Colts head coach Jim Caldwell. Rex Ryan has obviously vouched for him and the two would seem to have the same vision for the offense, likely one very similar to what the Ravens currently feature. That's the blueprint that Rex Ryan believes in.

Pat Shurmur was fired as head coach of the Cleveland Browns, but has done a great job at various stops throughout the NFL as an offensive coach. After spending seven seasons as the tight ends coach at Michigan State, Pat Shurmur stopped at Stanford to be the offensive line coach before moving to the NFL and advanced quickly. He went from Philadelphia Eagles tight ends coach in 1999, to quarterbacks coach in 2002, became the offensive coordinator of the St. Louis Rams in 2009 and was hired as head coach of the Browns in 2011.

Hue Jackson is another name that is connected to Rex Ryan. The former Oakland Raiders head coach and current Cincinnati Bengals assistant was the quarterbacks coach in Baltimore in 2009, where the and Rex Ryan crossed paths. Hue Jackson has coached running backs, quarterbacks and wide receivers at the FBS and NFL level and has served as offensive coordinator at five different stops throughout his coaching career.

Pep Hamilton is the offensive coordinator for the Stanford Cardinal. Pep Hamilton has history with the Jets, serving as an offensive quality control assistant in 2003, the quarterbacks coach in 2004 and the wide receivers coach in 2005. He has served as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Stanford since 2011.

Marty Mornhinweg is best known for his 5-27 record as head coach of the Detroit Lions during the 2001-02 seasons, but he has been a successful offensive coach throughout his career. He is currently the offensive coordinator and assistant head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles.
